Hemsworth & Bridges in First Trailer for ‘Bad Times at the El Royale’

Bad Times at the El Royale Trailer

“Would you mind opening up the door?” 20th Century Fox has debuted the stylish, first official trailer for Drew Goddard’s Bad Times at the El Royale, a funky new thriller from the director of The Cabin in the Woods. The film tells the story of seven strangers who meet at Lake Tahoe’s El Royale. Over the course of one fateful night, secrets are unearthed, and everyone will have a last shot at redemption before everything goes to hell. The delicious ensemble cast of El Royale includes Jeff Bridges, Cynthia Erivo, Dakota Johnson, Jon Hamm, Cailee Spaeny, Lewis Pullman, Nick Offerman, and Chris Hemsworth. We’ve been hearing about this movie for a while, glad to finally get a first look at it. This looks crazy! There’s so much going on in here, I don’t even know what the heck is happening, but I am so very intrigued. Enjoy. ›››

Fiery First Trailer for ‘How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World’

How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World

“We are no longer safe here. We all have to disappear…” Universal has launched the first trailer for How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World, the latest sequel in the animated series from DreamWorks Animation. The story continues where it left off after the second movie, following Hiccup as the village chief and Toothless as the dragon as leader of his own kind. As both ascend, the darkest threat they’ve yet faced—as well as the appearance of a female Night Fury—will test the bonds of their relationship like never before. The film’s voice cast features Jay Baruchel, America Ferrera, Cate Blanchett, Kit Harington, Craig Ferguson, and F. Murray Abraham. This is described as the “culmination” of the HTTYD series, and it looks like an epic grand finale. There’s some jaw-dropping footage here and it looks delightful, I’m 100% in. ›››

First Trailer for Steven Knight’s ‘Serenity’ with Matthew McConaughey

Serenity Trailer

“This is about temptation. There’s right and wrong.” Aviron Pictures has released the official trailer for a film titled Serenity, not to be confused with the sci-fi feature of the same name based on the “Firefly” TV series. This Serenity is the latest movie from British screenwriter/director Steven Knight (Redemption, Locke) and it’s about a mysterious fishing boat captain, played by Matthew McConaughey. It’s described as a “daringly original, sexy, stylized thriller.” The mysterious past of this fishing boat skipper living in the Caribbean comes back to haunt him, ensnaring his life in a new reality that may not be what it all seems. The full cast of Serenity includes Anne Hathaway, Jason Clarke, Djimon Hounsou, Jeremy Strong, Diane Lane, Kenneth Fok, Robert Hobbs, and Rafael Sayegh. This looks very surreal and dream-like, with some odd bloody moments hidden within. I’m very curious, though not sure what to make of it yet. ›››

Claire Foy as Lisbeth in First Trailer for ‘The Girl in the Spider’s Web’

The Girl in the Spider's Web Trailer

“Are you not Lisbeth Salander – the righter of wrongs?” Sony has debuted the first official trailer for the latest film in David Fincher’s English-language version of The Girl in the Dragon Tattoo series, continuing with the sequel The Girl in the Spider’s Web. However, they went back to the drawing board and re-cast Lisbeth Salander and found a new director, Uruguayan filmmaker Fede Alvarez (of the Evil Dead remake), to steer this ship. The Girl in the Spider’s Web stars Claire Foy as the new Lisbeth, hacker extraordinaire, and Swedish actor Sverrir Gudnason as her cohort Mikael Blomkvist. The film’s full cast includes Sylvia Hoeks, Lakeith Stanfield, Stephen Merchant, Vicky Krieps, Cameron Britton, and Claes Bang from The Square. This doesn’t look so bad, which is a relief. Even though Fincher has stepped away and it doesn’t have the same feel, it still looks very cool. The brutal opening scene will definitely get your attention. ›››
